FAQs
What areas do TEDwalks cover?
We walk dogs in Hastings, Havelock North and Napier areas. We go many places that allow off leash dog walking. Your dog’s safety is paramount, so we ensure they are away from traffic and only let off-leash when safe to do so. We also adhere to local council guidelines
Do you need a key to my home?
If access to your home is required we can provide a secure lockbox in a location at your property.
This is a better security and risk practice, and means that we do not carry keys to your home.
Do you have emergency processes?
TEDwalks has step by step emergency procedures in place for lost, injured and unwell pets. All team members are Pet First Aid certified, and our vehicles are equipped with canine and human first aid kits.
Safety is our number one priority when we are caring for your dog, our vehicles are fitted out to keep them safe in the event of an accident, cool or warm while travelling.
Will my dog be supervised at all times?
Yes, they will be under the effective control of a dog walker at all times. Your dog's safety is our first priority so we use GPS tracking collars until we feel confident that your dog will stay with the pack and has effective recall training.
Do you provide a casual service?
Yes we do!
Do you provide short term services for when we are on holiday?
Yes! Many families have us walk their dogs while they are away on holiday.
What happens if my dog doesn't get on with another dog?
We personalise the packs to ensure that the dogs who can socialise well together walk together. If there are any substantial altercations, we will ensure next time those dogs do not go on an adventure together. We do our best to match each dog’s personality with others for a safe and fun day out.
My dog has not been desexed, can he/she still be walked?
We are happy to discuss this with you in the beginning and make a call on each dog’s case separately.
What happens in bad weather?
Unless there is an extreme weather event, we will walk your dog in any weather conditions so you don’t have to! If your dog is wet or muddy, we will rinse and towel dry them, so no dirty paw prints are left in the house! If you dog is scared of thunder, please let us know so we can take action to make sure your dog is feeling as safe as possible.
Why is pack walking great for your dog?
Regular dog walking in groups helps your dog receive physical and mental stimulation, our walks focus on enrichment experiences which builds confidence and socialisation skills. Pack walks support happy dogs who are more settled. TEDwalks builds connections and community for the dogs and their families.
Our team spends time with all the packs and dogs. This ensures that all dogs are comfortable with us.
For everyone’s safety we do have an induction process and before joining a walking pack ‘every’ dog is required to pass assessment, induction, and light training. We have a consistent commands, cues and reward systems in the team that we use with the dogs.
